Dato Seri Wahid Omar said “Most Bumiputeras are also afraid to take this subject on as it is deemed difficult because it requires high numerical literacy. They tend to not proceed in the subject after only failing for the first time when they should have instead pushed forward.” Admitting that he himself had failed his accountancy exams numerous times before finally passing them, he also said the government is confident of achieving its target of creating 60,000 accountants by 2020.
MyPAC chairman Datuk Zaiton Mohd Hassan also spoke during the launch and emphasized that “we need to shift the mindset of the rakyat especially the Bumiputera in realising that accountancy is an attractive career path,”
“Finance is a global language and it will be able to take the student to any industry in any part of the world.”
With that, we wish to thank all attendees and supporters during this exciting event. We hope to have more opportunities for dialogue sessions to speak about accountancy in Malaysia soon.
